Sergeant SitStay — Train Better Dogs. Happier Humans.

Discipline builds freedom. For the dog, and for you.

A structured obedience programme built on the boring, repeatable things that work — clear commands, consistent handlers, and short sessions your dog can actually succeed at.

If any of this sounds familiar

None of that means you're doing it wrong. It means nobody has handed you the thing in order.

The Obedience Programme

An eight-week structured training plan for the dog you already have.

What's inside

MODULE 1

Week One: One Word, One Meaning

Why most dogs aren't disobedient, they're bilingual in a language nobody standardised. Fixing the household vocabulary first.

MODULE 2

Week Two: Marking and Timing

The half-second that decides whether the dog learns the thing you meant or the thing that happened next.

MODULE 3

Weeks Three and Four: Sit, Stay, Down, Place

The four foundations, drilled short and often, with the exact progression and failure points.

MODULE 4

Week Five: Recall That Holds

Building a recall that survives distraction, distance and a more interesting dog forty feet away.

MODULE 5

Week Six: The Lead

Loose-lead walking taught properly, including what to do the first time it falls apart in public.

MODULE 6

Weeks Seven and Eight: Proofing

Taking everything into the real world — other dogs, other people, other smells — without losing it all.

Sergeant SitStay

About Sergeant SitStay

Sergeant SitStay is loud, unsubtle and entirely correct about one thing: dogs do not need a better dog, they need a more consistent human. The programme is built around fixing the handler, which is where nearly every problem actually lives.

What people say

★★★★★

The command card sorted out half of it.

Four people in this house, four different words for 'down'. Fixed that in a day and the dog visibly relaxed.

Gemma L.
★★★★★

Recall finally holds at the park.

Week five, done properly with the progression, and I can call him off another dog now. That was unthinkable in June.

Stuart H.
★★★★★

Five minutes twice a day.

I thought training meant hour-long sessions I'd never do. Short and frequent turned out to be the whole trick.

Nadia F.

Prefer it done with you?

The guide stands on its own. If you'd rather have someone walk it through with you, these are the ways to do that.

Single Session

One session on your specific problem, with a written plan to follow afterwards.

Full Programme, Coached

The eight weeks, run with you, checking in at each stage so nothing drifts.

Household Reset

For homes where several people handle the dog and none of them agree.

Ask about working together

Read it. Use it. Decide then.

Everything in The Obedience Programme is meant to be used, not admired. Work through it, put it into practice, and judge it on whether your situation is actually better than it was.

Questions

What age is this for?

Six months and up as written, with a separate set of notes for adapting everything to a younger puppy.

My dog is older — is it too late?

No. Older dogs often progress faster because they settle into sessions better. The programme runs identically.

Is this force-free?

It's reward-based and built on marking and timing. There's nothing in here that relies on causing the dog pain or fear.

What if we get stuck?

The troubleshooting guide covers the eleven common sticking points with a specific change for each. Most stalls are one of those.

What format is it?

A PDF delivered immediately, with the printable command card and session log.
